Welcome to Centre for Corporate Citizenship!

The mission of the Centre for Corporate Citizenship is promoting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Ukraine by means of on-going provision of informational, methodological, training and advisory support to the interested parties.

The framework of Corporate Social Responsibility is understood by us as a framework of factors both internal and external to an enterprise that create an incentive for the for-profit companies to consider themselves accountable to its stakeholders that is to all those who affect, and who are affected by the operations of the enterprise. CSR is viewed as a comprehensive set of policies, practices and programs that are integrated throughout business operations, and decision-making processes that are supported and rewarded by top management.

By stakeholders we mean all the identifiable parties that affect or are affected by the operation of an enterprise such as employees (among them especially women, national minorities, the HIV-positive), customers, community, specific groups in the community, environmental situation in the community, etc.

CSR is viewed by us as a free-market tool of protecting the interests of economically and socially vulnerable social groups, the stakeholders of a commercial enterprise, and a mechanism of leveraging additional resources for social and environmental development.

We believe that:

  • Companies should up-hold the human rights of employees and protect the human rights of all members of the community in which company operates;

  • Companies should observe labor rights and standards such as: freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, a ban on forced labor, a ban on child labor, a ban of discrimination in the workplace and in professions, the right to security of employment, the right to a living wage, the right to safe and sound working conditions, compliance with the maximum number of working hours, etc;

  • Companies should take their responsibility with regard to the effects of their processes, products and services on the quality of air, water, soil, climate, biodiversity, bio-safety and health;

  • Companies should observe consumer rights including: the right to access to necessary goods and services, the right to safety, the right to information, the right to choose, the right to be heard, the right to appeal and lodge a complaint, the right to consumer education, the right to sustainability;

  • Companies have the following obligations with regard to health issues: the obligation to prevent work-related accidents and illness, minimizing the causes of health risks inherent in the work environment, creating safe and hygienic working conditions;

  • Companies should not be involved in corrupt practices;

  • Companies should respect national sovereignty and local communities.

Centre for Corporate Citizenship is aiming at fulfillment of the above beliefs by means of contribution to promotion of the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility in Ukraine.
